How Do You Become a Lawyer

Those who are looking to make their career as a lawyer need to be warned beforehand that it is a long and very challenging career. It requires years of training and you have to make sure that you know and understand everything that is involved. We have provided you with some information that will help you to know what you are getting yourself into.

 

The first thing you will have to do is decide in which state you will like to practice law. Once you have decided you will need to learn what their certification requirements are, what type of lawyer you would like to be, and how much schooling you will need to accomplish that goal.

 

There are two schooling parts that you will have to practice. The first thing you will have to do is obtain your 4 year undergraduate degree from an institute that is recognized and accepted by others. It is important that you focus during school that you can earn a high GPA score.

 

Make sure that you learn and study hard before you go for your Law School Admission Test (LSAT). This is a pre-test for your admission into a law school of your choice. There are many different prep courses that include tapes, books, and other self testing supplies that will help you to study.

 

You will need to apply to a minimum of three law schools or more for better chances. You need to do this because you will not be accepted at every college so you need to have your options open. The schools you pick need to be recognized by the ABA (American Bar Association).

 

While you are in law school try participating in extracurricular activities. It is great to intern during your school breaks, writing for a campus law journal, and participating in the Bar Review. Things like this will help to add perks to your resume when you are finished with law school and looking for a job.

 

You will need to pass the state Bar Association exams after you have graduated. To find one in your are you can contact the state Bar Associations. Keep in mind that you follow the requirements that they have for the state.

 

After you have passed it is time to create your resume. Tell your future employers your strengths, what your profession is, and all of your skills. It is time to be honest with them and show they exactly what you are made of.

 

As a lawyer you are now ready to uphold the law and enforce the justice system for Americans all around the country. It is a noble profession that you will enjoy for many years and will be able to improve upon. It is true that many people will envy you. And don’t be surprised to hear the many lawyer jokes that will come your way. It comes with the package!

Doug is seen saving lives around the world, going under the rubble of 911 while the fire is still smoldering , searching where FEMA were too afraid to go, getting poisoned under the millions of tons of rubble and finally getting medical treatment and struggling to stay alive through years of severe 911 illness. Doug is seen at the end stating: ” I did the right thing. I would do it all over again…without a second’s hesitation.. Passing CSET Unlocks The Door To Your California Teaching Career

If you’re like me and every other college graduate with a degree in education, your California teaching career is in a holding pattern until you successfully pass your CSET tests. I know that the educator position I wanted was contingent on acquiring my certification. Like me, many often are dumbfounded at the number of intelligent college grads that fail the CSET the first time. How can so many who received high grades in college studies find the CSET exam such as obstacle?

Using The Best Study Tools

Everyone realizes that the best methodology for test taking is to prepare by studying relevant material for the test subject. Wasting time and effort reviewing data that will not be on the examination will not result in a passing score. I was extremely fortunate to pass my CSET test with the first try. I owe my success to my mentor who suggested the study guides and tools I obtained from Teaching Solutions.

Obtaining my Multiple Subject Certification was imperative. My mentor gave me the URL for Teaching Solutions. The mentor recommended that I utilize their Comprehensive Success System to prepare for taking the CSET test. Medical terminology is the basis of all medical careers. Whether you go into a hands-on career such as nursing or want to start your career as a medical transcriptionist, you need a thorough understanding of medical terminology to succeed. It’s the starting point for a career in the medical field.

Medical terminology can be defined as an industry-specific vocabulary for accurately describing the human body and associated conditions, procedures and diagnoses. It involves three basic parts: root words, prefixes, and suffixes. The root word is a term derived from a source language, such as Greek or Latin, and usually describes a body part. It is the main, or middle, part of the word. The prefix is an affix that is added to the front of the root word. It is used to modify the word’s meaning and give additional information about the medical term, such as location, number or time. The suffix is an affix that is added to the end of a word. It is also used to add meaning to the word, such as condition, process, or procedure. Put together, the root word, prefix and suffix create a specific medical term.

It is important to note that in medical terminology, the root word usually doesn’t make sense alone – it wouldn’t be used as a standalone word in a sentence. This is because medical root words are derived from foreign languages. The prefix and suffix is added to make the term make sense.

In a medical transcription or other medical-related career, the deciphering process is a vital part of understanding the medical term. It usually requires practice on your part to effectively and accurately form and decipher medical terms. To understand a medical term, you need to break down the word and look at its component parts: root word, prefix and suffix. By evaluating them one-by-one, you can learn each meaning and then put them together for full comprehension.

Understanding medical terminology is fundamental to accurately performing medical careers such as medical transcription. Without a complete understanding, you would not be able to accurately spell or use medical terminology in your transcriptions. All medical professionals consult their medical dictionaries on a regular basis – add a handy medical dictionary to your reference library. It’s the perfect way to learn and verify medical terminology.

Career Planning Tips - Free Tips For Effective Career Development

Career planning involves planning your career path ahead and determining in advance the career development things you need to do to get to your desired career destination.

The first step to effective career planning is to ask yourself what you want to be in life. What career do you want to pursue?

Want to be a medical doctor, pharmacist, engineer, or lawyer?

Career development along these professional disciplines is often straightforward. For example if your intended career path is to become a lawyer, you know you have to have a bachelors degree in law and therafter attend law school.

However, career planning and career development go way beyond what you studied in school or the discipline where you majored during your university years. Career planning is way bigger than that.

Career development when properly planned involves taking your destiny in your own hands, deciding what makes you happy, and then structuring all your training and career efforts in the direction of your chosen career path.

For example, suppose you have a bachelors degree in economics and now have a job. Ask yourself, “Why did I study economics?”

Generally, there are one of three reasons why people study a particular discipline in college or university.

1. They may be very passonate about the course or

2. They may have studied the course because that is what mom and dad wanted or

3. They may have studied the course because they could not get admission to study their preferred course

The good news is . . . you can shape or re-shape your career path irrespective of the reasons that led you to your current profession.

For example, some category 1 people . . . people who were passionate about their profession as teenagers . . . may lose their passion for the profession as they grow older and face the reality of day-to-day life. This loss of passion may also result from the pressures from family demands and the peculiar challenges associated with the profession in practice.

Category 2 professionals, mentioned above, are likely to go after their heart’s first love when they are no longer under the control of mom and dad.

Category 3 professionals are also likely to go after their first love after their first degree.

For example, I know people who are passionate about accountng. However, they could not make the score for the accounting department during their pre-university days. Some of them eventually went for courses like economics, sociology, statistics, and similar social science courses.

What happened after leaving school?

A good number of them went back to register with the professinal accounting body and now have professional certificate in accounting. In simple words . . .
they are now chartered accountants.

Bottom line.

The course you studied in the teenage years in school need not hold you captive for the rest of your life if you have lost passion for it.

I recommend you get involved with a profession you love. If you missed your way when you were young, you can always retrace your professional steps no matter where you are currently or how old you are.

Now with that background, let’s get back to the real question.

What career planning strategy can you use to plan your career path? What practical career development strategy can you put to use right now?

Do the following to move your career in the direction you want.

1. Determine where you are right now in your career

2. Determine and document where you want to be

3. Draw an outline of the skills you need to get there

4. Kick-start the process of acquiring skills you need that you don’t already have

5. Discuss your career plan with your wife and then your boss

6. Ask to be given assignments that move you more and more in the direction of your career

7. Get involved in community work (where possible) that offers you an opportunity to function in the position you expect to be

8. Let nothing stop you from making that noble career a reality

That question should help you appreciate what career development plans you need to put in place to achieve your dream.

If you have not taken career planning seriously before now, now is the time to start.

Planning ahead for a blissful and eventful career is the key to a happy life. It gives you a future to dream about and pursue . . . a purpose to work and live for.

Bomb Technician: One Of The Most Dangerous Jobs In The World

I saw a shirt recently that said, “I am a bomb technician.  If you see me running, try and keep up.”  While the sentiment was amusing, it is a very sobering truth that bomb technicians risk their lives every day to keep others safe.  At the Hazardous Devices School in Alabama, US Army Master Sergeant Paul Carter explains, “We take safety seriously.  Everything was learned the hard way.  Meaning someone was hurt or killed.”  Not many other jobs in the world have as high a mortality rate or element of danger inherent to the profession.

Bomb disposal became a formal profession in World War One.  Since there were so many explosives being mass produced, many had defects causing them to land without exploding.  The British were the first to recognize the need for technicians to dispose of these types of bombs.  That need was further exemplified by the German’s creation of unexploded bombs (UXB).  The United States began their own bomb disposal unit in 1941 after seeing the success of the British units during “The Blitz” of bombings on the United Kingdom by Germany in World War Two.  In the beginning, there was no formal training or tools for technicians to utilize to dispose of bombs.  As bomb technicians would learn how to safely dispose of one type of bomb, its makers would already be working on variations and “anti-handling devices” to thwart bomb disposal techniques.  “This trend of cat-and-mouse extends even to the present day, and the various techniques used to disarm munitions are not publicized.”

Today, training for almost all bomb technicians in the US is done at the Hazardous Devices School in Alabama.  Opening in 1971 the school provides a uniform basic training for military and law enforcement personnel.  Only 16,000 individuals had attended the school by 2003.  Bomb disposal is dangerous and difficult work as many in the field are first to admit.  “I’m here to tell you I am not an expert,” says Master Sergeant Carter.  “I have been doing this for twenty-seven years and I am not an expert.”  Coming face to face with an IED or Improvised Explosive Device has become more and more common over the past several years as terrorism has become a serious threat worldwide.  The heroes who risk their lives to disarm and dispose of live explosives deserve our support and gratitude for constantly putting their lives on the line for our safety.
